Shane O'Doherty, Author

Hi, and welcome to my personal Web site. You may know me as the author of the 1993 Irish bestseller, The Volunteer, originally published by the Fount imprint of HarperCollins and now available again as a new hardcover edition in the United States of America thanks to Strategic Book Publishing, and as a new paperback edition in Spain entitled "No Mas Bombas" thanks to Libros Libres, (more info on the Spanish publication here).

Or you may know me as the freelance technical author, with a number of years spent consulting for Ericsson in Kista (pronounced Sheesta), Stockholm.

Or you may just know me as the handsome, witty conversation-maker and speechmaster...

Glad you're here, and enjoy a browse.

What Makes Life Interesting

Relationships? Work? Hobbies? Travel? Learning? Religion?

I suppose I've had a somewhat varied, slightly chequered and always challenging and interesting lifetime of experiences...

From early politics (read the autobiography!) through some learning (five years of English in Trinity College, Dublin), via a marriage, divorce and annulment (God Bless the US of A!), early work with homeless people (2 years as Deputy Editor and Production Manager of the Irish version of The Big Issues)...

My own software training company (Digital Paparazzi Ltd), some more learning (1 year H.Dip. in Computer Science, UCD), nearly 3 years in Sweden consulting in Ericsson, followed by a few years of some more religion (1 year working with the homeless again, and 2 years in a seminary, plus the 2yr H.Dip. in Philosophy at NUI Maynooth, and Biblical Greek studies), followed by a new direction...

I'm currently studying for a Masters in Computing at Dublin Institute of Technology, part-time, over two years.

At Ardmore, County Waterford

Summing It All Up

  • You gotta keep on keeping on, while you may...
  • However many falls, however much sin, however many times you lose your way, God is always willing your return to Him in humility, simplicity and in earnest desire for repentance.
